In the next version of Nouz, most of design templates will be divided into 2 parts:

1. Simple part, easy to edit and understand.


2. Advanced part, giving a very wide range of abilities to those who know PHP.

Also, a Custom Pages Editor will be implemented.

And I plan to write decent documentation :)

IP Ban

Coming up: IP ban. I didn’t think this feature is useful, because spammers use lots of proxy servers. However, now I receive large amounts of spam from similar IPs.

In reply, I’ll tell you about my tagging concept. When you use Nouz, tags themselves are categories, i.e. they should represent note’s topics, not contents.

Let’s say you write the first note in your blog. For example, ZeFiR’s greeting message :)

“Greetings” and “hello_world” tags, I suppose, won’t be used in the future. So they can be easily removed, the “blog” tag is absolutely enough.

This tagging concept allows you create a beautiful and useful tag cloud which will make the navigation easier.

Listening to/Now playing, mood

In my opinion, these features are unnecesary: the author should be able to express his or her mood in the text. And why not write something about the current music (not only the track name)? And are you sure the public needs to know what you are listening to now?

So I think that such tools are deterious for the blog notes. By the way, that’s the second reason why I dislike graphic smilies and hate animated ones (the first is aesthetics).

I’ll use this blog to tell you some things concerning the development of Nouz. And now a couple words about it.

I created Nouz in 2004, but since that time the development was slow and uneffective, and its source code was rather lame. I used it only for my own blog and for another one, which belonged to one of my customers (I am freelance web designer and programmer).

In 2007 I decided to rewrite it from scratch and make it freeware and open source. Moreover, now it’s multilanguage: there are English and Russian language packs by default, and I hope more of them will appear in the future with the help of enthusiasts.
